A great loss in Arizona
Living here in the desert can take a toll on you. The heat will make you do crazy things. The will may even cause you to hurt things you love. Much like this unsuspecting and innocent bag of gummy bears.

The Budget Nikon D3000
Well, let me preface this by saying I am NOT being paid to do a review or endorsement of any kind. Not by Nikon, not by anybody. And also, I am NOT much of a word smith. I type how I think it.
I am the somewhat proud owner of Nikon's Latest budget DSLR the D3000. Well, recently I decided I would like to try and "tether" my camera to my desktop computer. I figure, IF i do a session, I shoot roughly 500 images. Ok well my work flow is VERY slow at this point. I'm taking the images from the camera, transferring them to my computer via Nikon Transfer Program. This takes FOREVER. Especially if I am shooting RAW/NEF format. So i went to Nikon's website and see that they offer a GREAT program called "Camera Control Pro 2" In a nut shell, this program will operate, control, make changes to and shoot your Nikon Brand Camera. USING THE COMPUTER. I mean you can change your Fstop, aperture, shutter speed, the works. So here i think "Sweet!!! That's JUST what I need" Well come to find out, Nikon's program will work on damn near every body out there EXCEPT the red headed step child, the D3000!!!! WTF Nikon???? Ok let me clarify something. I just want to be able to take a photograph, and have it displayed on my computer screen. Sort of a larger view to proof it better. SO i figure ok I will just connect my camera via the USB cable and open up that folder. Well I snap a picture and POOF, there it is on my desktop. In the picture viewer, supplied by Microsoft. Great, I am on the right track. Well, the images are tiny. Might as well look at them on the screen on the camera. PLUS the viewer will NOT view RAW/NEF files. SO i download the latest codec from MS which supposedly allows picture viewer to view the Nikon NEF files. Nope doesn't work. So you can see my problem here. NOTHING WORKS with the D3000. OH BUT WAIT!!!!!!! So i stumbled across a website that gave a link to this nice little FREE program called Simply "Camera Controler v5.2" So what the heck, lets try it out. and what do ya know, it works like a champ!!! EVEN with the D3000. I can change pretty much all my most common settings. ISO, White Balance, shutter speeds, fstops, aperture. Heck I CAN EVEN do bracketing. (Which BTW, was NOT offered as a feature on the D3000) It will NOT show a view of RAW/NEF files, however, you can set it to take raw plus jpeg and it will show the jpeg image. So works for me. I plan on doing my first video as well and using this program as the subject so please check it out.

Kids
So this morning, I am running a little behind. Rileigh is entertaining herself in the living room. I can only imagine what she was doing. Her monkey backpack, hairbrush, bottle of water, scissors, glue and lip balm.... I HOPE she didn't try and put the glue on her lips. She is such a little busy body lately.

Snickers
This is The Snickers. She is a huge pain at times. She's a diva. But on a rare occasion, she likes to cuddle up.
